TOPIC: New York Vacation Tips- PLZ

Hello Guys...

We will be travelling to New York by last week of May , Please guide me with the best options for the same , like :
1-Places to vist ( MUST to see places)
2-If there are any cheap packages or travel agents / website u would recommend.
3-As hotels are really expensive there ( i did a little bit google, about the Hotel rates), are there any website/options u would suggest for coupons or deals.
4- Any Adventures stuff to do there like- Scuba diving n etc..

Iam really waiting for the best options guys...the earlier i know , the more cheaper rates i can get to book my travel so please help...

For hotel deals, try priceline.com, hotwire.com, etc.

You can try staying away from Manhattan and getting in by train. Hotels work out cheaper when not in Manhattan.

Adventure-wise, you are better off with other destinations like Outer Banks, etc. NYC ain't for adventures apart from Wall St roller coaster, can-u-survive-this-cab-rides, good-luck-finding-a-parking-spot, etc.

I went to NY In December for New year.

IF you are with your family.. Stay at Candle wood suites in Jersey City.
The PATh staion is very close by.
Also the hotel provides shuttle for the PATH station.

The Candle wood was my choice becuase of it has kitchennete and very safe.

Are travelling alone or with family?

If you are travelling alone then you can try one of the hostels in Manhattan. The rents starts as low as $35. You have to share the room with others and the bath rooms are common. You cant go there with family.

For family, staying away from Manhattan costs less. Factor in the train fare and additional time if you are staying in Jersy city. There are some hotels which has shuttle service (around $5 per person) and can reach the Manhatten in around 20 mins. PATH fares are as much as $14 per person and can take 1.5 hours. So, do not stay too far from Manhattan.

Places to visit depends on your interests -
1. Empire state building (if you like tall buildings). Try to visit early in the day as it gets crowded later and wait times will be upto 2 hours.
2. Statue of Liberty - It is not that great..but just for bragging. Go there early in the morning and it gets crowded later and you have to wait for Ferry for long time.
3. Time Square in the evening
4. Madam Tussads wax museaum
5. Grand Centeral (its train station but I like to visit there even if it is 10 mins)
6. Brooklyn Bridge
7. China town...

Satish- Do u know of anything which is like a tour package for one day to these places ? ( do u think that will be a reasonble option or going on own will be help saving time n money ) .

I dont know but iam just concered about the stay , as all the hotels are very expensive...
We are going for 5 days
2 days we will be at Niagra falls
and 3 days we wish to expore New York must visits...

Any other tips./suggestions will be appreciated too...
