Cary DMV is a very busy place. Recommend taking an appt. Without appt, you are looking for atleast half-a-day wait time.

I have been told Fuquay-Varina DMV has much lesser crowd.

Go to any DMV center.
Documents as required.
Eyetest may be performed once you pass.

Hey there, i would suggest go during Lunch time or after Lunch time , avoid going on Mondays and fridays , also there is an online test , i do have those set of questions with me , if u want i can email it to u .

Divide the questions:

Few from signs
Few from Dividers, slopes,icy road, rain..etc
Few from RR, school signs etc
Few from traffic signals
Few from lanes( single, double, 4 lanes at stop signs who goes first and all...etc)
Few from speed limits ( default speed in town)

Go 20 -30 minutes before the office opens in the morning. I have set of questions.Give me your mail id i can send you the link. Almost all questions come from that test...
