The FDA initiated the seizure after finding extensive evidence of unsanitary conditions throughout the warehouse during a recent inspection. Investigators collected more than 300 samples of materials showing significant unsanitary conditions, in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. These conditions included live rodent and birds, rodent carcasses, gnawed product packaging, significant amounts of rodent fecal matter, rodent urine stains, and rodent nesting material.

Read this, I wonder why Deep food gave clarification?

Friends:
We deeply care for your concerns regarding our products and the incident at Chetak Chicago in September of 2011 deserve clarification.

Foremost, it's important to note that the products involved in the situation illustrated below were not Deep Foods manufactured products. Also, the products in question were bulk bags of commodities isolated to a warehouse in Chicago and these were destroyed. Deep Foods continues to manufacture the products you have come to enjoy at our plant in New Jersey, with the highest standards possible.
Chetak Chicago (that serves the greater Chicago area) is a warehousing facility that was recently cited by the FDA for questionable cleanliness. Although Chetak Chicago does not produce Deep Foods products, we share our consumers' concerns for the highest level of quality and safety. For that reason, we have worked with Chetak to bring the facility to what is now a state of the art facility that holds food safety as its prime objective.

As part of further due diligence, Chetak's warehouse was audited on October 13th by an accredited third party and we would like to offer their conclusion, "We have inspected hundreds of warehouses/processors and in our professional opinion this warehouse ranks among the top ten percent of the ones we've inspected".

It's important to note that at the time of the citing, no products were shipped to stores, and our consumers' health and well being are NOT at risk. In addition, Deep Foods prepared products (Frozen Foods, Snacks, Pickles etc.) were NOT contaminated. Still to regain any wavering confidence, we'd like to offer the above photographs of Chetak Chicago to demonstrate Deep Foods' commitment to quality and your family's good health.
