LFC,

Picture looks great and it is a great recipe. But don't you need someone to validate if the food really came out delicious? May be I can taste the food and confirm if the picture matches the food. I am free on Friday...

Raz, my digital camera is quite old...We got it in 2003 and that time we paid 500$.. now for same money you get better point and shoot camera.

Olympus Camedia C-50 Zoom./5.0 megapixel

I do need to buy new camera but I get confused with so many brands and cameras. I do use my cell phone camera too but not for food pictures...I have taken lot of nature pictures with cell camera.

Edited to add - For all food pictures I set my camera to macro + no flash + Auto. This setting works. Also I pick lowest resolution to avoid massive size of pictures. I don't have to do any resizing before posting.

Taking good picture involves lots of things. LFC said 'For all food pictures I set my camera to macro + no flash + Auto. This setting works. Also I pick lowest resolution to avoid massive size of pictures. I don't have to do any resizing before posting.' Try the above with your current camera or borrow a camera from friend and see how it comes.

For good pictures -
Make sure the light is soft and even (uneven light in the frame usually spoils the pictures)
Use an interesting angle for the shooting (birds view, regular view, worms view)
Close and tight (focus on subject and avoid distractions in the frame)
Take lots of pictures, and choose good ones and discard the rest!
Experiment with different angels, light, settings in the camera..

Things that I look while buying the camera is
- Size of the lens. Usually bigger lens allows more light into the camera and pictures come out good.
- Enough zoom (about 100mm). More zoom will not help unless you are using the tripod.
- size of the camera. Smaller is better to carry around.

If you are serious about photography then get an SLR. They are huge, but take much better pictures.

Interesting angle means...make sure Satish is not in the frame.
