Sakhi Sammelan is the first ever convention of Hindu Women in RTP organised by Women (Sevikas) at HSS. The event was very lively, started with the intro of each other and Ice breaker. Followed by Yoga and info session of the Seva Projects. There was a discussion in which all women had the opportunity to talk about the Hindu culture and the reasons behind following the tradition. This discussion helped the women to explore the reasons behind rituals.

Our own medical expert Dr. Vijaya Bapat was the guest speaker. Dr. Bapat presented very helpful tips on managing stress. Anjali Patel was another guest speaker who flew from CA for this Special event and was present for the event for the whole day.

There were many games and fun filled activities. All women were given a topic about the Hindu festivals and culture and asked to provide a Skit.

The Volunteers of HSS, Pranjali Dani, Archana Joshi, Komal Kubal, Hina Patel, Gauri Deshmukh, Sushma joshi,Shivani Desai and Sunita Upadhyay had worked hard to put together this event. Thumbs up to them for organizing and running a very succesful event.

About Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA: HSS is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization. Sangh, as the organization is popularly known, aims to organize the Hindu community events in order to preserve, practice and promote Hindu ideals and values. HSS conducts structured programs of regular athletic and academic activities to develop strong character and leadership skills in its members (known as swayamsevaks for men and sevikas for women), emphasizing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence and a spirit of selfless service (seva) for humanity.

Sangh is inspired by the idea that the whole world is one family and conducts activities across the United States in order to spread this message widely. Sangh in the United States started in 1989 and today has over 100 weekly meeting centers (shakhas) across the country.

Shakha Activities

Each chapter of HSS is known as Shakha - a weekly program for the entire family. While the kids enjoy learning in the balagokulam, youth and adults also participate in activities such as games, songs, discussions, and lectures on Hindu culture. We strongly emphasize the physical, intellectual and spiritual growth of each individual and also promote a sense of discipline.

Some Special Events
include Yuva Sangam, Sangh Shiksha Varg (Training Camp),Hindu Heritage Camp and Festival Celebrations.
