Ingredients :
- Chicken - Cut and cleaned 2 lbs ( I used chicken thighs and legs. Using chicken breast will make the chicken very hard and does not taste good.)
- Onion - 1 big size
- Tomatoes - 2 medium size
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Dhaniya powder - 1tsp
- Whole garam masala - 2 bayleaves, 2 cardamom (big size), cinnamon, cloves.
- Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - pinch
- Salt - As desired
- Chopped Fresh Cilantro - small cup
- Yogurt - 1tsb
- Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
- Green Chillies - 5 cut length wise.
- Dry coconut flakes - fistful
- poppy seeds - 1tsp.
Note: Add dry coconut flakes, poppy seeds and little cilantro and make a paste in the blender.
Method:
Take a pan and add some oil. On a high flame, when oil heats add the whole garam masala, after few seconds, add the chopped onions and fry until light brown. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a min, now add chicken pieces and fry. Keep the lid open and cook until water evaporates. Turn the flame to medium and add turmeric, salt, red chilli powder, chopped tomatoes and fry for few mins. Now add yogurt and cook for another 15 mins. Now add the coconut, poppy seeds and cilantro paste to the chicken , some water as desired to make the gravy, and cook it on a low flame for 30 mins. Add lemon juice and cilantro and stir it. Remove from the flame and serve hot with Rice or Rotis or Naan.
